Current Listening

At some point I'll discuss what this is all about, a general purpose for the site. But for now, here's what I'm listening to right now.

Cut Chemist - The Audience's Listening

(Actually I just bought this at the show the other night but haven't played it yet. Still it gets mentioned because by the time you read this...)

You may notice every link is to a myspace page, which is ridiculous considering my long running disdain for myspace. But its time to turn the corner on that, because it is pretty nice to be able to not only listen to tracks from each artist but also download them free(in some cases anyway). Myspace, like most everything, has good and bad. It still amazes me that *everyone* has a myspace page.

You'll find one of the more interesting here.

Late Edit: Haha. By surfing myspace for these links and checking out some tracks, I was reminded why I really don't dig myspace much at all, which is why the official links were added. In general, I'll support official sites from here out, unless you can only hear the music on myspace. In the case of The Roots, their official site redirects to myspace, so I included the Wikipedia entry, which may be the most interesting link in this post. Wikipedia is great. The myspace thing... forget I mentioned it.

Work in progress

First things first, find time to make this thing happen. Next:

1) Current Listenings
2) Show Thoughts
3) Live Mixes
4) New Material
5) Back In The Day
6) Random Acts

I caught a bunch of shows over the last week. Black Crowes at Rams Head Live, Medeski Scofield Martin and Wood at 9:30 Club, Written Prisms at Rams Head Tavern, and Lyrics Born/Cut Chemist at 9:30 Club.

Thoughts?? Yeah, I had a lot of em a day or so after the shows. Trying to capture that now would be forced. Then again, why write this in the first place? Still figuring that out.

Just heard Del on the Tony Hawk's Project 8 commercial. Is that the original beat? Sounds like its been beefed up a bit.

Genesis

So I guess this is more than the new "in" thing. Blogging... we'll see if I can find my way to something worthwhile.
